GI appointment

Saw the GI doctor today. He said if this area is a "diverticulum" (outpouching of the esophagus) then it would be the biggest one he has ever seen, so he does not believe that is what it is. He scheduled me for an endoscopy for Friday, this is the same day as my PET scan and I can do both in the same day but Chris has to be back in Mount Airy for an appointment at 1pm so I am not sure how we will do it. I am going to ask Dad and Meg if one of them can go with me. The GI said if the endoscopy is negative and he can't see anything unusual the he would like me to have an endoscopic ultrasound same thing as an endoscopy except they would insert an ultrasound device in my throat and scan the side of my esophagus and if the mass is right up against it they could biopsy it through the esophagus. That might be better then seeing a thoracic surgeon for a biopsy. Except for the possibility that it is not right up against the esophagus in which case I would still have to go for a biopsy. So who knows.....
