The economy

Still a little worried about all that is going on in the global economy, but I am selfish and only wonder how it will affect me personally...... I am not retiring in the next five years like my parents and in laws, they are directly affected as they will live off their invested $ and if the market goes down, the $ they have to live off of goes down too. See, that I get.....Chris and I have 401k and some individual stocks but not alot, the 401k probably is (was?) 10,000ish and the stocks were around 3,000 at their highest (last I checked they were at 1,900 eekk), okay so we got a late start at investing and as long as we keep investing we get in at lower levels which is good for when the market improves, so a good buying opportunity for us. That I get....but how will the change in the economy affect our day to day lives? Will our bank stay open, will we lose our jobs, will the prices of stuff keep rising? Will we fall into a depression? Will I be a little old lady someday talking about the depression?
